Part curiosity, part folk-art, this bass is a work in progress. This kit is special ordered as fretless from Guitar Kit World. I replaced the bridge with one homemade from solid rosewood, to more closely resemble that of an upright bass. I also replaced the plastic nut with a homemade ebony nut. The neck and hollow body are mahogany. I’ve still got a few more modifications in mind, but so far, this inexpensive bass has far exceeded my expectations. Acoustically, it is quite loud with a a vibrant tone. Plugged in, it sounds surprisingly punchy and phat and can mwah for days.
