From the Jonathan Kreisberg album “Nine Stories Wide.” I really love the simplicity of this standard. Larry plays a beautiful short solo packed with creativity. He is playful with the time a bit, pushing and pulling, so I tried to notate in an easy to read way, and tried to picture what he might be thinking, as opposed to robotically accurate rhythms. And I notice, same with Brad Mehldau, the comping is pretty minimal and carefully stays out of the way so Larry can either simplify a change or add chromaticism for a phrase here and there.
