This is as “normal” a bass as it gets for me: A left-handed 4-string passive precision bass. The pots are Volume & Tone, yet I opted for a 6-way Varitone instead of the traditional tone pot. The neck is true P Bass width of 1-11/16″ at the nut. I planned this to be my vintage-like flatwound string bass, so I also opted for the Lollypop tuners and B-Style bridge from Hipshot, as well as the Tele-style peghead. The neck and fingerboard are Roasted Maple, which requires no finish and feels amazing to play raw. The body is Roasted Swamp Ash, to which Warmoth applied a clear satin finish. I think the roasted woods, Hipshot hardware and simple electronics helped shed every bit of excess weight making this the lightest bass I own – lighter than my semi-hollow Mahogany. I love the natural caramel color scheme it creates. I recently swapped in Fender Custom Shop ’62 pickups and it sounds exactly as I hoped.
